1. The Republicans have already started on the Obama administration challenging that there isn't a change. Isn't this a change from eight years of the Bush administration? I believe they want to go back to the vitriol and divisive politics to undermine this coming administration of hope. They are bringing up his appointees of being with the Clinton administration.
I use the example of the new nominee for Attorney General. An exemplary well qualified person to take this post. Janet Reno was the Attorney General and somehow the spin is to blame this man as a participant? It's so Rovian. I heard that the guy is comfortable in his current practice. It would be a shame if the hate and fear scheme of the defeated opposition make the decision for him and his family not to take the post.
2. I think that the Bush administration and oil companies had a hand in General Motors not pursuing greener cars. If GM survives so may Ford and Chrysler. I favor GM help from of the TARP money. If AIG can spend $500 million on executive bonuses we can help out GM.
3. Paulson has changed the intent of the TARP. Last gasp of the Bush administration to fill the pockets of the rich. The FDIC representative tried to make her issue as to her idea how to fix the problem, help the fore-closure issue. But the power is in the Bush spokesman Paulson who has no policy in place to help the cause of the problem, the fore-closures. Isn't that an affront to the Congressional intent?
4. We have lost our manufacturing base in so many ways that I don't even know. This is most serious. Of all the things I see as a fault of the Clinton administration were the policies of allowing our manufacturing base to be lost. Needless to say the Bush administration did not protect our nation in any way. Especially not our economy for keeping jobs here.
5. Our country's security: Did we get Osama Bin Ladin? Are pirates running amok from Samalia? Bush claimed he would get a middle east peace before the end of his administration? Did he think after seven years of neglect he could make peace where there has been war for over 1000 years? It will be nice to have someone who was involved in the Harvard Law Review rather than someone who squeaked through his college and didn't show up for his commitment to the U.S. military.
6. I write my congress representatives in CA often. I was asking for impeachment for over a year. The Republicans did it over an indiscretion while the Bush administration has lied to the public and battered the Constitution which renders it worthless. I am a Patriot and find this very offensive.
Personal notes:
When the government helped out Chrysler in the 80's I bought a Plymouth. It worked just fine. Maybe we need a push to buy U.S. products. If we start boycotting offshore products in anyway maybe we help at home. It is of course impossible at this point for everyday purchases.
