My Cousin Peter responded to my last post. It's good to know family is as passionate as I am about our country. So here is his post:
Um, Richard, all you have to do is scroll down your own blog to see some vitriol against the opposition. The Republicans did not start it. I admit the Bush administration ruined what Reagan began and continued in the Clinton years. However, I fail to see how Obama is going to pay for what has been estimated to be $4 trillion in new spending over the next 8 years. Now is not the time to add new spending or cut taxes but it is the time to cut spending and hold taxes where they are so we can begin to pay down the debt.
Cousin Peter
Thanks for reading, thanks for responding, thanks for caring about our country. Also it's a bit of a wake up call for me to calm down. I know in my relationship with my partner sometimes it's what I don't say which can be so much more important sometimes than what I do say and when I do say something how it is said. Maybe it's time I give up the negative and concentrate on the positive. No reason to turn into a ridiculous radio style reactionary.
So Cousin Peter, Thank You.
I do disagree with your assessment of the tax issue. I think you and I and my friends who are teachers, law enforcement officers, nurses, small business owners need a tax break. It's a really good stimulus package. Keeping the tax breaks for those who don't need it ala Bush, seems ridiculous to me.
On the good side, thousands of citizens participated in our democracy than have ever done so before. a big yea, ole! Despite the Electoral College the popular vote was very close. looking at the county by county election results this was not really a mandate. So true bipartinship is in order. Now the Democrats need to show their mettle. The proof will be in the pudding. And you're right, how anyone in office can fix what Bush and Chaney have wielded is beyond me.
